Recommendation
Arakan 1945.
On 31 January 1945 at Hill 170 nr. Kangaw L/Sgt Sincup was Section Sgt of a platoon counter-attacking the enemy. When his platoon officer was wounded he took command of the two leading sections of his platoon and attacked an enemy post, personally killing five of the enemy of whom one was an officer. He then rallied the sections, evacuating five of his men who were wounded and made two attempts to bring in another wounded man who was covered by enemy machine-gun and sniper fire. He then took up part of the defence of the forward right flank and by his leadership and personal example held this flank, helping with other troops to break up determined enemy attacks. He remained with his sections in this position constantly engaged with the enemy for ten hours until relieved by another unit.
