Before the outbreak of war Anthony Windsor Jones was a Derby Borough Police Constable residing in 1939 at 85 Brackensdale Avenue, Derby. He later volunteered for the Commandos and after his training was attached to No.5 Commando attaining the rank of Lance Sergeant.
In April 1943 he married Miss Audrey Park at Mickleover Parish Church. Post war he re-joined the Derby Borough Police Force serving for a total of 20 years. An accomplished Rugby Union player, he played for the British Police International Rugby Team sixteen times, captained the Derbyshire Rugby Union side, and represented Notts., Lincs., and Derbyshire in County Championship matches. Member of the Commando Association.
