Before the outbreak of war Anthony Windsor Jones was a Derby BoroughPolice Constable residing in 1939 at 85 Brackensdale Avenue, Derby. He later volunteered for the Commandos and after his training was attached to No.5 Commando attaining the rank of Lance Sergeant.
April 1943 married Miss Audrey Park at Mickleover Parish Church. Active service in Burma. Released from military service 25 February 1946. Post war he re-joined the Derby Borough Police Force serving for a total of 20 years. An accomplished Rugby Union player, he played for the British Police International Rugby Team sixteen times, captained the Derbyshire Rugby Union side, and represented Notts., Lincs., and Derbyshire in County Championship matches. Member of the Commando Association.
