Rifleman Andrew McGlone was reported missing during operations at Crete on 2 June 1941 and later found to be a prisoner of war. During the years that followed he escaped several times from captivity only to be recaptured later.
In 1944 he managed to successfully escape from Stalag 344 in Poland and was eventually repatriated back to the UK on 24 September 1944. He was subsequently awarded the Military Medal in recognition of his gallant and distinguished service.
Post war member of the Commando Association from Cambuslang, Lanarkshire.
