Alfred Mullen 40RM Commando
Alfred Mullen, a Builders Labourer, enlisted into the Royal Marines 19 May 1940. Volunteered for and posted to 40RM Commando when or shortly after it it was formed in February 1942. He was present on the Isle of Wight July 1942 for a lecture by Lt Col. Phillipps, 40RM Commando [more...], on how to behave in the event of capture. Wounded 19 August 1942 Dieppe. Corporal Mullen, 'X' Troop, was again wounded and prisoner of war 19 January 1944 during operations at the River Garigliano front at Castelforte, Italy. Late 1945 resided Wythenshawe, Manchester.
