Extract from the Stirling Observer
"17 July 1941.
Information has been received in Stirling that Pte. Alexander Hamilton, Royal Corps of Signals, has been killed in action in the Middle East. He was the only son of the late Pte. James Hamilton, RASC, and Mrs Hamilton, 21 Hazelbank Gardens, Stirling. His father was killed in action in Egypt in January of this year.
Pte Hamilton who was a Territorial before the war worked in civilian life with McGrouther's Bacon Curing factory, Stirling. We extend our Sympathy to Mrs Hamilton, bereft of husband and son in the space of a few months and wish her a successful recovery from the illness which has necessitated her undergoing an operation in Stirling Royal Infirmary."
