Harry Jacobs 2 Commando
Harry Jacobs was a radio salesman from Mosspark Drive, Glasow. Harry was of the Jewish Faith and after enlisting with the Cameron Highlanders volunteered for the Commandos. 
In September 1941 he was part of a detachment of 25 Other Ranks from No.2 Commando who embarked on H.M.T. Ulster Monarch, and proceeded to Gibraltar from where they made several onward and return journeys between Gibraltar and Freetown, via Ghana and Lagos. Their role on board was primarily manning A.A. guns, the 14 pounder on the stern, 3 Bren guns on the top deck, and general ship maintenance and look out duties. They rejoined No.2 Commando in April 1942. Whilst No.2 Commando were in Ayr prior to being posted overseas he was a Lance Corporal in 'A' Section, No.1 Sub-Section of 5 Troop and billeted at 59 Mill Street, Ayr. He served with No.2 Commando for the remainder of the war, final rank attained Lance Sergeant. Post war resided in Kelvinbridge, Glasgow.
