Alan Edward Coford, a Dock Clerk with the Port of London Authority, enlisted into the Royal Marines 28 August 1941. Marine Coford, B troop, was wounded and a prisoner of war 11 June 1944 during operations at Rots, Normandy. He spent 3 weeks in hospitals at Alencon, Le Man, and Rennes, before being transported to Germany.
