Recommendation
Operation Jubilee, Dieppe Area, 19th August 1942
Thanks to the initiative of L/Cpl. Skerry the sixth German Heavy Gun was found at a distance from the main battery position. L/Cpl. Skerry, who was carrying demolition charges in his rucksack, blew the muzzle and breach-block off the gun without assistance, and subsequently made his own way back to the beach. This gun would probably have been overlooked if the N.C.O. had not shown initiative. [Recommneded by Lord Lovat].
