Sergeant Harold Smith was awarded the Military Medal (periodic) [1] for gallant and distinguished service shown during operations in Italy at Anzio, Sarande, and Lake Comacchio, and on the enemy held Dalmatian Island of Brac [2]. He also received a Mention in Despatches for services in Italy, 1st April, 1945 to 8th May, 1945 [3].
