Harwood Frederick George Beaven initially served in 40RM Commando attaining the rank of Sergeant Major in May 1943 [1]. Sergeant Major Beaven, 45RM Commando, was awarded the Military Medal for bravery and great devotion to duty whilst operating with the Allied Armies in North-West Europe [2]. He had been serving as Troop Sergeant Major in 'D' Troop during the capture of Wesel [3].
