Marine Lawrence Samwell, 48RM Commando, was killed in action during operations in Walcheren. He had previously been Mentioned in Despatches for distinguished service in Sicily. His brother 19062711 Private Vernon James Samwell, Royal Army Ordnance Corps, aged 19, died in 1947. Sons of Arthur Alfred and Violet Emily Samwell, of Lodge Hill, Rochester, Kent.
