Captain Ellis was reported missing 26 August 1943 during early Italian beach reconnaissance at Bova Marina, later confirmed as dying of wounds whilst a prisoner of war in German hands. Commissioned into the Indian Army 1 April 1931. Joined No.3  Commando 12 February 1943. Son of Colonel A. C. Ellis, C.B.E., and of Mabel C. Ellis (nee Dwyer); husband of Kathleen Adele Ellis (nee Gahan). M.R.C.V.S.
