9 December 1943
"On leave together during the past week were LCpl Alex Lyall (Commandos) and Pte. Mary Lyall (nee Winter) (A.T.S.), Knowehead.This happy young couple are looking very fit indeed. Alex is in charge of the rations at a well known Commando Depot in the far North, while Mary serves in the Royal Corps of Signals at a big camp in the vicinity of one of our largest Scottish cities."
