Date of enlistment note.
The T.A. pages of the Service Record show an initital enlistment date of 2 December 1943 which is scored through and replaced with 18 May 1944. Other pages show only 18 May 1944.The family believe he originally lied about his age to volunteer in December '43 when he was still 17. This was so he wouldn't get left behind by his mates. He then fell ill with appendicitis during the two dates.
