Victor Henry Smart, a Blacksmith's Mate from Painswick, Gloucestershire, enlisted into the Royal Mariines 26 May 1942. Marine Smart, 46RM Commando, was captured 11 June 1944 during operations at Rots, Normandy. Remained in captivity until May 1945.
