Thomas Fraili (Fraile), a Student from Benavides de Orbigs, Leon, Spain, volunteered for the British Army after fighting in the Spanish Civil War. He was attached to 'D' Bn. Layforce. Reported missing 2 June 1941 during operations in Crete, later found to have been captured the previous day. Prisoner of war until liberated in 1945. 
Extract from his liberation questionnaire
"I volunteered to join the British Army 23/8/1940, from this date I wish to be considered having British nationality. Prior to the above mentioned date I was a Spaniard and fought in the civil war against 'Franco' for 32 months".
