Hello All,
I am after info on the types of "Tommy Gun" used by the Commando's, ie which types etc as much as you can give me.
Regards Ron
Hello All,
I was wondering if we have a Photo library, there must be many Senior Members who have photos and information, and as they probably have no access to our website this information be it written or photographic will become lost to the younger generations. Could this possibly be mentioned in the "Dispatches" as it reaches many members unable to visit the Website. Maybe we could offer a copying service by way of copying the info and returning it to the owners so not lose any of their valuble information and we could then start an archive. Just a thought. More work for the willing if it happens count me in.

Regards Ron
Stephen,
Really nice job, is that a speck of dust on the putor screen.
Regards Ron
Remembering our good friend Bob Bartholamew. No5 Commando.
Our thoughts are with Vera.
God Bless You.
"The Lain Clan"
Hello All,
I have just been on the phone to Silent Sylvie, she has asked me to thank all those who pledged their hard earnt in response to her forced silence. We obviousley thank her for agreeing to allow us "The CVA" to benefit from her verbal detention. So far £130. has been raised and we are still open to offers however small so come on its a good cause.
Regards Ron
Hello All,
We have an amazing oppertunity to raise some money for the CVA. The "Honourable Sylvie" is to have an "Op" on her throat, now' following the "Op" she has to keep quiet for a week? I for one dont believe that she can do it. So, I am willing to sponser Sylvie £15.00p to go to the CVA funds if she can make it. She will be staying with her daughter in Portsmouth whom I'm sure we can rely on to keep the score. So there you are Sylvie the challenge is on as promised, if there is anyone else out there who knows Sylvie and her willingness to talk who would like to come on board please contact me by PM and we can take it from there.
Good Luck Sylvie.
Regards a Confident Ron
Hello All,
Just to add to the above, really good to be among our old friends again, and also make a few new ones. Great work from Fred and of course our "Honourable Sylvie" you will probably get to hear more about the formation electric buggy events, we now have our own Commando Formation Electric Buggy Team who without asking entertained many in the Bar area to an unrehearsed formation derby, highly amusing and entertaning. Everyone arrived safely despite some very harsh weather which made the journeys quite hazardous, but that asside we all managed to stay dry. The paver area around the Memorial is now filling up, and maybe in the near future will need to be extended, the noteable inclusion of our good friends Bob Bishop and Bob Bartholamew were among some of the names added and of course they should all get a mention. It was good to meet Stephen again with what seems to be an ever increasing family full of interest in the CVA I'm sure all down to Stephens enthusiasm for telling very detailed stories of some the early Commando raids, exellent entertainment. Another successful gathering and totally enjoyable, thanks to all. And a special Thanks to Sylvie from myself and Bev you really are a diamond. Stay off the Bailey's and will see you in FW.
Regards Ron and Bev
Hello All,
Ive just watched a programme on National Geographic about Germans who fought for Britain, "Churchills German Army"well worth watching its bound to be on again, keep an eye out for it, one of the men in the programme trained for the Commando, it shows a new point of view. Hope to see some of you at Alrewas.
Regards Ron
Hello Stephen,
Your knife is a 3rd Issue as you probably already know without markings it is quite difficult to tell you anything about it. Quite often the blade tip breaks off, and the blade will have been resharpened hence the shorter blade.
Regards Ron

Hello All,
Just a quick update ref. Elmwood School last Thursday. Another thoroughly enjoyable day, where we we all made very welcome, and how refreshing to be able to appreciate these superbly mannered children a real credit to their Parents and Teachers, they sang a very moving version of "Heroes" very apt considering the occasion and the presence of those who attended, The usual evergreen Mr. and Mrs Scott, Mr and Mrs Harry Winch, Billy Moore, Carlie Spuffard and his wife Pam, and Lt Knowlands sister along with members of her family, many others serving and otherwise, and as the day turned out a big suprise for Doug Roderick, No 3 Commando, celebtrating his 91st Birthday on the day. The children joined us or shall I say we joined them in wishing Doug happy birthday with the usual song. He was then presented with a very nice frame cosisting of replicas of his campaign medals including the "Oak Leaf" a F/S and shoulder badges etc by Mr Scott, this was presented on behalf of his daughter and family Sylvie (watch your wallets I'm after you money). Dougie was also kind enough to give me his copy of the Vaagso raid which he also signed I am honoured. We were treated to "We'll meet again" and "Its a long way to Tipperari" by the children as the day was wound up. Tea, cakes and sandwiches were provided and most welcome, whilst we caught up with events of past and future of which Alrewas is starting to look like being quite a momentus occasion this year. I should like to take this oppertunity in thanking the Techers and Pupils for what was again a truly enjoyable day. Special thanks to the Ladies for providing the refreshment for all of us and even more especially to the dear little lady who told me she may not be there next year as she was
standing up her teapot to enjoy some time to herself, unfortunately I cerelessly did not get her name, God bless her anyway.
See you soon
Regards Ron Lain
