Sergeant George Westwood died [1] when his patrol was ambushed in the Cameron Highlands area of Malaya [2][3].
 
Sgt. Westwood, eldest son of Mr and Mrs George Westwood of Main Street, Dunton Bassett, had served in Malaya for six months. During WW2 he served on HMS Dido. Educated at Lutterworth Grammar School, he was a keen sportsman, and when available played for Lutterworth Town R.F.C. He was married and had a five month old child he had not seen [3].
