Corporal Ronald Babb died in the Korean war during a raid on the night of 6th/7th October, when two troops of the Commando landed under the command of Major D. L. St. M. Aldridge, R.M., at Churonjang. A rail and road tunnel was blown up with two tons of explosive and completely blocked [1][2]

Cornish Marine killed in Korea - Commando leaves widow and a baby. Corpl. Ronald B. Babb, the 41st Ind. Commando Unit, R.M., whose home is at Caradon View, Minions, near Liskeard, has been reported killed in Korea on October 7. Corpl. Babb left for service in the Far East in August, and was flown from Malaya to Tokyo before being sent to Korea. He is the first casualty from the R.M. Independent Commando to be reported *.
Corpl. Babb, who was married only 18 months ago, leaves a widow and a baby girl, aged eight months. Both were in their early 20's. Mrs. Babb was formerly Miss Marie Lear, was employed before her marriage as a typist in Plymouth. On the day the news of his death was received Mrs. Babb received two letters from him. In the last war Mrs. Babb lost her brother [view] when H.M S. Prince of Wales went down in Far Eastern waters. [3].
