Marine William Scott died during operations at Salerno, this date being that of the action on the hills by the village of Piegolelle*. Son of Andrew Scott, and of Margaret Scott, of Dundee; husband of Margaret Stunnock Scott, of Dundee.
Extract from the Dundee Evening Telegraph Saturday 09 October 1943.
“Dundee Commando Killed :- Intimation has been received by Mrs Scott, Cotton Road, Dundee, that her husband, Marine William C. Scott (32), Royal Marine Commandos, has been killed in action. Marine Scott enlisted in June, 1941, in the Royal Marines, and was later embodied in a Marine Commando unit. He was formerly employed in Dura Works (James Scott & Sons, Ltd.). Mrs Scott is presently residing with her mother, Mrs Sturrock, 32 Main Street.”
