Sergeant Robert Stradling died during operations at Salerno, Italy, this date being that of the action on the hills by the village of Piegolelle (or Piegolette). He received a posthumous Mention in Despatches for outstanding service whilst operating with the allied armies in Italy. Son of Charles and Elizabeth Stradling; husband of Doris Lily Stradling, of Topsham, Devon.
