Marine Arthur Coleman was batman to Lieutenant Collins of 'A' troop. Both died during an operation against the German held island of Schouwen, Holland. Marine Coleman was the son of Thomas and May Coleman, of Wraxall, Somerset; husband of Eileen Beryl Coleman, of Bedminster Down, Bristol.
Just outside Bruinisse Lieutenant Collins [more...], leading the patrol, met a double apron fence which he gapped, and found himself by a slit trench with two Germans. He called on these to surrender; they did so, but a third German, not before seen, threw several grenades killing the two Germans and severely wounding Lieutenant Collins and Marine Coleman, his MOA. Both later died of their wounds [*].
