Marine William Appleby was reported missing presumed died, along with the rest of 'T' Company 40RM Commando, when the ship they were on board, HMS Fidelity, was torpedoed. Son of Herbert Appleby, and of Elizabeth Ellen Appleby, of Spennymoor, Co. Durham.
