Driver Albert Watts, from Manchester, died during operations at Lake Comacchio, Italy.

 

Albert Watts enlisted on the 26th October 1938 and was killed in action on 16th April 1945 aged 23 yrs. This would mean that on enlistment his age would have been 16 –17yrs. It is thought that he originally signed up, lying about his age, and giving the name Thomas Power. He is eventually discovered, but by this time is an adult. He then goes onto serve as a driver in his real name with the 8th Motor Ambulance Company on the 13th March 1942. On the 8th Dec 1942 when his unit embarks for onward journey to Bone, North Africa disembarking on the 22nd Dec 1942. On the 7th June 1944 he volunteers for, and is attached to No.9 Commando, from his unit in North Africa.
