It is thought that he originally signed up, lying about his age, and giving the name T. Power. He is eventually discovered, but by this time is an adult. He then goes onto serve as a driver in his real name with the 8th Motor Ambulance Company on the 13th March 1942. On the 8th Dec 1942 when his unit embarks for onward journey to Bone, North Africa disembarking on the 22nd Dec 1942.
