Charles Donaldson 46 Commando
Marine Charles Donaldson died of wounds during operations at the River Rhine crossing, Germany. Son of Helen Donaldson, of Auchterarder, Perthshire.
Extract from the Perthshire Advertiser 4th April 1945.
"..served for 3 years in the Middle East, India and Ceylon before proceeding to France in July last year. He went through the campaign during the summer and autumn in France and Belgium, returning to this country for further special training in December. He was home on leave in January, and crossed to Holland later that month. Born at St Andrews, he was a gardener by occupation, and was employed at Glamis House, Dundee".
