Corporal John Maybury, 2 troop, was shot and killed during Operations Intemperate 1 and 2, against the German occupied island of Schouwen, Holland [1][2][3]
  • June 1944 (Lance Corporal) (No.4 Commando) wounded at Normandy [4].
  • Major James Dunning, No.4 Cdo and CBTC,  later described him as "an ex-guardsman and one of the Commando's star footballers, who had been with the unit from its earliest days" [3].
