Lieutenant Eoin McGonigal, formerly 7 troop No.11 Commando, joined 'L' Detachment, Special Air Service Brigade, on 15 August 1941. Lieutenant McGonigal died of wounds during Operation Squatter targeting airfields at Timimi, west of Tobruk, and has no known grave. Son of John McGonigal, K.C., and of Margaret McGonigal, of Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, Irish Republic.
