Eric Buckmaster
Eric Buckmaster served in No 2 Commando 5 troop from mid 1942 until the Commando was disbanded soon after the war ended. Eric was wounded on 9 September 1943 during operations at  Salerno, Italy, and sent for medical treatment to North Africa. He returned to the unit in November 1943. Read some of his memories from that period below.
  • His younger brother Stanley also served in 5 troop, joining them when the Commando was reinforced after Salerno. 
  • Eric was elected Vice Chairman of the General Committee of the original Commando Association in 2001 and remained as such until its stand down in 2005. He was also the chairman of their London Branch.
