Sergeant Eric Spiers, 4 Troop, was one of the early volunteers for the Army Commandos.
A veteran of the Vaagso raid (Operation Archery) in December 1941 during which he was wounded, he remained with No.3 Commando until killed in action during operations in Normandy, France.
