Marine Alan Owen, X troop, died from injuries received when he was hit by a jeep driven by an American serviceman on a road between Ashurst and Lyndhurst, Hampshire. Son of Lewis Davis Owen and Evelyn Harriet Owen, of Beckenham. The accident occurred the day before the whole unit moved from Ashurst to Achnacarry for Commando training after their re-designation as a Commando unit
