Private Philip Hurley, 2 troop, was killed in action during operations at Maungdaw, Burma. Son of Philip and Clarice G. Hurley, of Claughton, Birkenhead.
Philip was a Police Officer who had volunteered for the Commandos in 1942 as part of the Police Intakes. In 1939 he was a Police Constable residing with his parents at 14 Portland Street, Birkenhead. His name is amongst those commemorated on the Birkenhead Police War Memorial Plaque located at Birkenhead Police Station, Mortimer Street, Lower Tranmere, Wirral (Merseyside Police).
