Private Sydney Macgowan, 2 Troop, was killed in action during operations at Maungdaw, Burma. Son of James and Elizabeth MacGowan; husband of Jessie MacGowan (nee Robertson), of Stirling.
Sydney was a Police Officer who volunteered for the Commandos joining in October 1942 as part of a Police Intake to the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre) at Achnacarry. He joined the Stirling Burgh Police Force in 1935 and is named on the Stirlingshire Constabulary WW2 Roll of Honour.
