Gunner John Beaney died during operations at Kangaw, Burma.
Extract from the Middlesex Chronicle - Saturday 17 February 1945
"Mrs. J. Beaney, of 15, Hamilton Road, Twickenham, has been officially notified that her husband, Gunner Jack Beaney, a Commando, was killed in action in Burma in January. Thirty years of age, he was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Beaney, of 63, Swan Road, Hanworth. Gunner Beaney enlisted on the outbreak of hostilities with the 72nd Searchlight Bn.. at Twickenham Green, and served with the R.A. until a few months ago, when he volunteered for the Commandos. He was an old scholar of the Archdeacon Cambridge’s School. Both in civilian and army life Jack was a successful boxer, being a member of the Twickenham and Battersea Amateur Boxing Clubs."
