Lt Brunswick was killed in action at Salerno
Lieut. Arthur Brunswick served in No.2 Commando HQ Troop Intelligence Section and is mentioned in the book Operation Avalanche - The Salerno Landings 1943 by Des Hickey and Gus Smith. Gunner Charles Dettmer of No 2 Cdo. worked closely with Lt. Brunswick at Salerno and was with him when he died. Dettmer was also injured and lost an arm in the same mortar explosion. The book states that "Lieut. Brunswicks's parents were German and living in the North of England, yet Brunswick had been an Empire man and a brave soldier, far too brave". He was killed in the action at Dragone Hill, Salerno.
