Sergeant Paul Owens died when his motorcycle was in collision with a car on the A933 Brechin-Arbroath road at Kinnaird Dykes. [Sources: AFM ROH / The Bolton News online.]
Marine Troy Robson died  in a traffic accident in Arbroath whilst returning a hire car for the military. Originally from Seaburn, he lived with his wife, Rhona, 38, and five-year-old son, Jed, in the Condor Camp, Arbroath. Troy had served in the Royal Marines for 20 years including deployment to the Falklands War, and tours in Norway, Belize, Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Cyprus and Canada .
