Hi all

I have been in touch with Mike, the son of Paul Beckett who posted this original forum message. Amongst our various email messages between us, here is some of the information Mike has now discovered about his father's service which was in No.2 Commando. Mike is keen to know if anyone has any more information or knowledge of his father. His father is listed under the CVA No.2 Cdo. list of "they also served"

"Our late father Paul Beckett seved with 2 Commando. He joined them in Italy, after serving with the Yorks and Lancs regiment since 1939. He was in the Vis/Brac campaign, Lake Commachio and Italy. He is number 19 on the 2 Commando panorama picture. i posted his name after signing up to the photo forum. Sadly he passed away in 1987. "

and

"I've just dug out dads paybook and some other papers. among them is a membership card for the old comrades association dated 1949. he had number 8010. His papers show he joined the Commandos in November 1943. and left them November 1945. His army number was 4747367"

I contacted Eric Buckmaster on behalf of Mike and although Eric did not know his father he tells me " Paul Beckett would have been one of those who volunteered to join us as part of the rebuilding of the Unit after Salerno."

Mike is trying to get a photo of his father to me so I can place it alongside his comrades in the No.2 Cdo album, but in the meantime here is the link to the No.2 Cdo panorama picture where Paul Beckett is No.19. Mike would be grateful for any information about his father.

Paul's son Mike has now sent me some photos and documents. I have posted them in the No.2 Cdo main album as we do not know what troop he was in. The link is here:
