I believe this is No 6 Cdo. The cyclists may be 1 Troop who were known as the Bicycle Troop led by a Capt Robinson. Middle pic have full size picks and shovels. Apparantly the bikes folded in half by removing two nuts, and they were light enough to lift with one finger.
See Striking Back by Peter Masters photo pages.
Kind regards
Geoff

That is correct Steph, I think some of 3 Troop (or X Troop, or Misc Troop) of 10 IA Cdo were attached to 6 Commando also.
Cheers
Geoff

Thank you GEOFF
Just few words about Peter MASTERS, I met him in june 1999 and seeing my interest for Commandos, he gave me his book Striking Back and dedicated to me with "great" word.
It was a special meeting for me, in the same time JOHN ENVERS 10 IA cdo, original GERMAN, than i known since many years was there and they explain to me their escape from AUSTRIA and GERMANY, etc...
When i recall these times, I would like to come back few years ago.
I'm glad to have met "great men".
cheers

You met an original X Commando Veteran!
If any commando is deserving of a TV documentary I think its X troop. The masses need to know that there were Germans and Austrains who fought on the side of the British in the war, just as there were also British with the Germans.
Steve.

Hi steve
Maybe you know IAN HARRIS MM, he was in the 10 IA and attached to 45 RM cdo. He was Austrian.
I met other X Troop members in 1999.

Hi Steph,
The top photograph is definately 3 Commando and right at the back slightly obscured is Scotty Scott (of whom you spoke of in an earlier message). I met the London veterans recently and took along my laptop which inlcuded this picture. Scotty became quite excited saying who the individuals were and relaying his story of D-Day and cycling over Pegasus bridge where 'Jock' bought it... (I only wished I'd taped the conversation).
