Trooper William Mitchell, 'D' Troop, was wounded 6 June 1944 during operations at Normandy, France. He had volunteered for the Commandos as part of the Police Intakes. In 1939 he was a Police Constable residing at Devonshire Street, Keighley, Yorkshire. Post war member of the Commando Association.
