William Carter 41 Royal Marine Commando
Marine William Carter, from Preston, died during operations in North West Europe [1]
 
William Carter, an apprentice joiner and former pupil of  Deepdale Council School, joined the Royal Marines from the Home Guard in 1942 and served in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy. He was previously wounded at Normandy on D Day [2].
