7 January 1949 Captain Dennis Aldridge, who had served during the war with 44RM Commando [1], was appointed MBE (Military Division) for gallant and distinguished services with 40 Commando RM in Palestine during the period 27th March, 1948 - 30th July, 1948. [2]
Acting Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Drysdale assumed command of 44RM Commando on the 23rd April 1945. Formerly the Brigade Major he replaced Lt. Colonel Stockley who had been appointed to a position within Brigade HQ.*
Awarded the Silver Star Medal for gallant and distinguished service during operations in Germany on 18 November 1944 having left the commando* and now serving 8th Armoured Brigade Group [1][2].
28 January 1949 (Captain) (Hon. Major) awarded the Efficiency Medal (Territorial) [3].
