Leonard Arthur Sherington, a Clerk from London, enlisted 19 May 1940. He later volunteered for the Commandos and was attached to No.3 Commando. Corporal Sherington was wounded 27 December 1941 during operations at Vaagso, Norway. The following year he was reported missing 19 August 1942 during operations at Dieppe, France, later confirmed prisoner of war.
