Ronald Horsted 41 Commando
Marine Ronald Horsted, aged 19, died during operations at Salerno, Italy, this date being that of the action on the hills by the village of Piegolelle (or Piegolette). Son of Albert Edward and Amy Ada Horsted, of Hanwell, Middlesex.
Ronald was educated at St. Ann's Boys School and a member of the 1st Hanwell Scouts as well as the local Home Guard. He was employed at Chrysler Motor Services Ltd., before volunteering for the Royal Marines aged 18.
