Major Robert Willasey-Wilsey received The Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air during operations in Northern Iraq and Southern Turkey [1]
The Q.C.V.S.A., was announced in February 1992 in recognition of his valuable services in the air and leadership of 3 Commando Brigade Air Squadron during Operation Haven. His personal contribution was highly significant, choosing to lead many of the most dangerous missions himself, in particular the frequent armed air reconnaisance patrols over the many Iraqi Army positions [1].
  • 1st February 1994 promoted Lieutenant Colonel [2].
