Obituary written by Henry Brown OBE
Members worldwide, and particularly those in the London and Home Counties area, will certainly be greatly saddened by the news that our beloved Reg Barnes died after a long illness in November last. Although he was affectionately known as 'Mr. London Branch' he was, without any doubt, the Association's longest serving voluntary worker and a person whom we can probably never replace.
Comrades who served with Reg in the 1st Special Brigade Headquarters will know all about his wonderful qualities as an administrator, and will fully realise how fortunate we have been in the London area to benefit from his considerable experience in banking.
His desire to serve others was so immense, and he will be so greatly missed by his colleagues on the Association's General Committee, of which he served for over thirty years, and by his fellow Trustees of the Commandos' Benevolent Fund. Our love and heartfelt sympathy go out to his dear wife lvy, who supported him throughout, and who is such a dear friend of us all in the London Branch.
