Lance Corporal Michael Taylor, Charlie Company, died during an exchange of fire with insurgent forces in the Sangin district of Helmand province. He was manning one of the sangars in the patrol base when the incident occurred.

Lieutenant James Turner drowned at Loch Long, Argyllshire, during a training exercise where he was to be landed from the submarine HMS Orpheus without the need for it to surface.

Marine Leslie Turner, HQ 3 Commando Bde. RM,  was killed when the truck he was in surprised bandits in the act of robbing a bus in the Gopeng-Kampar hills, Malaya. Buried in Batu Gajah (later exhumed, cremated at Sek Keng Cheng Crematorium, Kuala Lumpur and ashes returned to UK).

Lieutenant Edward Ufton, 'B' Troop, from Burton-on-Trent, died during Operation Musketeer, the Anglo-French Invasion of Port Said, Egypt.  He was leading a section clearing the Customs House when killed by enemy fire.

Corporal Andrew Uren died during operations on the Falkland Islands. He was part of a returning patrol from 45 Commando when they were mistaken by British forces for the enemy. He was killed along with Sgt. Robert Leeming, Cpl. Peter Fitton, and Mne. Keith Phillips.

Marine David Vallance was seven weeks into his training at the Commando Training Centre RM at the time of his death. He collapsed and died of a heart attack while jogging to a firing range at Sandy Bay, near Exmouth, during a training exercise.

Corporal Stephen Walker died in an explosion that happened near Patrol Base Almas, in Sangin, Helmand province. He was conducting a joint foot patrol with the Afghan National Army to reassure and improve the security for the local population in the area when the incident took place.

Mne. David Ward was serving on HMS Albion at the time of his death. He had been diagnosed with depression and tragically took his own life. David graduated as a Royal Marine in July 2002.  He served with 42 Commando RM and the UKLFCSG, and his service included Northern Ireland and Iraq.

Quartermaster Sergeant Alfred Wheeler, HQ 3 Commando Brigade, died during operations in Cyprus. He and Mne. Blakeway both perished from exposure on anti-terrorist operations after their vehicle fell into a deep gully in the Troodos Mountains during a blizzard [1][1a].
