Cemetery/Memorial: 
Lieutenant Pienaar, seconded to No 3 Commando from the South African Forces, died during operations at Agnone and the bridge at Malati (3 Commando Bridge). He had been taken prisoner during the action, but with a group of others managed to escape thier captors. Lieutenant Pienaar was shot and killed during this escape.
