Acting Sergeant Peter Simpson was awarded the MIlitary Medal for gallant and distinguished services in Malaya during the period 1st July to 31st December, 1951.[1]
 

Extract from the Aberdeen Evening Express - Monday 14 April 1952

An Aberdeen man, Sergeant Peter L. Simpson, who is serving with the Royal Marines in Malaya, has been awarded the Military Medal. To-day, his wife, who resides with her parents at 49 Wellington  Street, Aberdeen, received news of the award to her husband, who is a son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Simpson, Printfield Walk, Aberdeen. As announced last week in the "Evening Express," Sergeant Simpson was recently seriously wounded in the back and stomach while serving with 42 Commando, Royal Marines in Malaya. Twenty six years of age, he has signed on for twenty two years with the Marines. [2]
