Marine Peter Butchers from Paignton Devon was attached to the Mortar Platoon. He died when a mortar bomb exploded in the barrel during a live firing training exercise on Otterburn Ranges, Northumberland. Also killed were Marines Anthony Helstrip and Glenn Miller.
