At the time of his death his Commando were engaged on operations on the enemy occupied Greek island of Castelorizzo (Operation Abstention). 
  • 26 October 1932 attested into the Royal Tank Corps [2]
  • 5 November 1939 transferred to the Royal Household Cavalry [2].
