Killed in action or died of wounds
Corporal Kenneth Baker died during operations in Libya with Layforce. [Source:CWGC / British Army Casualties List , National Archives ref WO 417] His unit is shown on the Casualty List for Expeditionary Forces, Middle East, as 4 Special Service Bn., attached 'B' Bn. Layforce. The CWGC show him as 4 SS Bn. We record him on the ROH as per his original Commando unit title. [Unit note: 4 Special Service Bn. was a very short lived title redesignation of Commando Units and was no longer in use at the time of his death. 'B' Bn Layforce was made up of men from No 8 Commando whose unit had been part of 4 Special Service Bn.]
